Nick Bailey

Trustee & Director of Policing

Nick served 30 years in Cheshire Constabulary before transferring to Greater Manchester Police in July 2019 as an Assistant Chief Constable.

Nick is currently responsible for Specialist Operations which includes the Tactical Firearms Unit, Tactical Dog Unit, Tactical Mounted Unit, Roads Policing and Events and Conference Planning. He is also responsible for the Operational Communications Branch which includes Call Handling, Command and Control and Crime Recording. He is also responsible for Force Intelligence.

Nick is the Chair of the Greater Manchester Resilience Forum, the NW Regional Lead for Public Order and the National Policing lead for Data Protection and Freedom of Information. He is a Strategic Firearms Commander, Gold Public Order Commander and Multi-Agency Gold Incident Command (MAGIC) trained.

His inspiration is a desire to make a difference in his community, particularly driven by what he describes as the waste of talent. This is motivated by seeing close family die from drugs overdoses, his attendance at the Warrington bombing which killed two boys in 1993, the cycle of young people in the criminal justice system and more latterly whilst not responding, being on duty and deploying officers to the Manchester Arena bombing which saw 22 die.
