Tommy Richardson QFSM
Following a successful management career with Newcastle Local Authority, I joined Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service in 2005 and it has proven to be extremely rewarding.
As a Firefighter and Swift Water Rescue Technician, I have been dedicated In my aims to protect and educate the communities of which I serve and for the past 3 years I have been delivering a comprehensive programme of Water Safety on a voluntary basis.
Developing a Throw Bag Initiative with Waterside Economies near to open water in the North East has proven to be very successful with at least 4 lives saved to date. A programme which is now in collaboration with the RLNI and Northumbria Police and going from strength to strength.
Receiving a Queen’s Fire Service Medal in 2019 New Year’s Honours was wonderful.
As a 999 Ambassador, I hope to be able to widen awareness of our Emergency Services and the fantastic work which they carry out both in their day to day roles and the voluntary organisations which they support whilst off duty.
